What does a tour with Mini Waves look like?

You recognize the Mini Waves site immediately, as you drive into the Caracas Bay traffic circle, by the brightly colored fence. Upon arrival, you will meet Ro, the harbor master. The children will be assigned one of two boats, the fireboat or the container boat. Ro gives a clear explanation in Dutch about the boats and in which area you are allowed to sail. He teaches the young captains about steering, speed, navigation, avoiding shallows and weather. Safety is also discussed; for example, all children are required to wear life jackets while boating.
Captain’s aboard. Inside the boat are fun props, such as matching headgear and binoculars, for the young captains to fully slip into their roles. Ro gives instructions on how to sail out safely and then the fun can begin. Everyone gets their turn to drive the boat, ride the waves and maneuver around the buoys and other boats. After 20 minutes, Ro assists the young captains to safely dock and step ashore again.
To ensure that the boat stays neatly alongside the dock, you must also be able to tie it down properly. Ro then also gives the young captains a short course in “Tying a Knot. They get to choose whether to go for the easy or difficult knot. Is there no way for the boat to leave? Then all the young captains will be presented with a personal Captain’s Diploma. Thus, the kids are guaranteed to look back on a fun day with pride and a fine experience richer.
