Kitesurfing introductory lesson: what it looks like

Fifteen minutes before the start of your class, you are expected at the St. Joris Bay. Of course, you will first be handed the material, perfectly tailored for you. Then you will be explained the main theory. For example, about wind: how can you take advantage of the wind to keep your kite in the air and steer it the way you want it? Of course, you are sure to get the necessary safety instructions as well.

Kite Setup & Control

An important part of the introductory lesson is Kite Setup and Kite Control. Make sure the gear is in good shape and, of course, it is nice if you keep control of the kite at all times.
Finally, your kite takes to the air. First practice a little in the shallow water so you experience what forces are at play and how the kite responds to your movements. Next, you enter the water. At first without a board, but as soon as you get the hang of it, a board will be added and you will really start kitesurfing!

Professional guidance

Throughout the class you will have personal guidance from a professional instructor. English-speaking. Someone with a lot of experience in kitesurfing on Curacao, so your instructor will know how to assess how the wind is blowing and adjust his advice accordingly. Of course, you set the pace of the class.

Incl. all material

An introductory lesson always includes all the necessary equipment: a kite set and water shoes. Provide your own sunscreen (waterproof!) and something to eat and drink, and you’ll be fine!

Follow-up course

Did you think the introductory kitesurfing lesson was super cool and are you hungry for more? You can subsequently book a 3, 4 or 5-day Kitesurfing course. Usually, learning to sail the board succeeds from the end of lesson 2 or from lesson 3. The instructors completely follow the pace at which you pick up kitesurfing.

Rate

The Kitesurfing introductory lesson can be done alone or with 2 people:
1 person => 2 hour introductory lesson, US$ 169.
2 people => 3 hour introductory class, US$ 285 for the class (so US$ 143 p.p.)

Small deposit

When booking, you make a 15% deposit; the remainder you pay at check-in (cash in NAF or USD).

If you want to continue learning kitesurfing after the introductory lesson, book a 3, 4 or 5-day course at a discount. You do not receive a discount for one additional single lesson.

When & Where

The Kitesurf Introduction Class is available every day. The time will be determined by mutual agreement (between 09:00 and 16:00), also depending on other bookings for that day.

The Kitesurfing Introduction Class is at the St. Joris Bay. It is possible to book an additional transfer.
