ATV Tour in Curaçao

Rate

  • 1 person per quad: US$ 115 per ATV
  • 2 people per quad: US$ 170 per ATV

When you make a reservation, you’ll pay a deposit of US$ 17 or US$ 25. You must pay the balance no later than 48 hours before the tour.

Location & Transportation

Both tours depart from Seru Fortunaweg 48, Fortuna. That’s on the northwest side of the city. It’s about a half-hour drive from Jan Thiel.
You can also use the hotel pickup service from the larger accommodations in and around the city for US$ 25 per person.

Two ATV Tours: West or East

On this ATV tour, you can choose between a West Tour and an East Tour. Both tours are small-group tours with a maximum of 7 ATVs per tour. Of course, professional guidance is provided. The guide is highly skilled at riding ATVs and can also tell you a lot about the surrounding area.

ATV Tour West

The great thing about the West Tour is that the starting point is already fairly far to the northwest of the city, so you’re off-road in no time. First, you’ll head out onto the Hato Plains, also known as Curaçao’s “mini-desert,” which is very dusty when it’s dry and full of mud after heavy rain.
You’ll drive along the rugged northern coast of the island, including past the windmills, which look impressively large up close.
The tour guide takes you through the rugged wilderness, and you’ll make a stop to explore a cave, among other things. The final stop is at a crystal-clear natural pool where you can rinse off all the dust and mud.

ATV Tour East

On this East Tour, you’ll see a lot of the island—both the city and the often unspoiled nature just outside the city.
From the starting point, you’ll drive to St. Joris Bay, where you can almost always spot kitesurfers.
Next, you’ll head to the Ostrich Farm to see these animals up close.
The next stop is at Boka Grandi, a rugged beach with stunning ocean views.
The final stop is at Playa Kanoa, the only accessible beach on the north coast, where you can take a refreshing dip in the (rough) sea to cool off.

Which ATV tour do you choose?

While the West Tour is more of a ATV bike tour focused on off-road riding through dust and mud, the East Tour is more geared toward exploring Curaçao, with off-road riding mainly taking place on trails with large boulders in the path.
Both tours are available 7 days a week, twice a day (from 9:00 AM to 12:00 PM and from 2:00 PM to 5:00 PM).

Included in this excursion

  • 3-hour ATV tour
  • Professional instruction (in English) with thorough explanations on how to operate the ATV
  • A helmet, goggles, and a balaclava (skullcap)
  • A beautiful and thrilling tour of Curaçao, guaranteed to give you a serious adrenaline rush.

FAQ: ATV Tour

Quad, ATV, UTV, or buggy?

You have a quad and a buggy—what’s the difference? And then there’s also an ATV or UTV?
A quad and an ATV (All-Terrain Vehicle) are the same thing. In some countries, the term “quad” is mainly used, while in others, “ATV” is used. These are the vehicles you sit on top of.
A buggy and a UTV (Utility Task Vehicle) are the same thing. These are the vehicles you sit inside, with a door on the side and a frame (with or without a roof) over your head.
So the trip on this page is a quad/ATV tour. If you’d prefer a buggy tour (UTV tour), check here.

Can I take my child with me on the back during the ATV tour?

No, this tour is not suitable for children. We recommend it for ages 18 and up, but if you really want to, children as young as 12 may participate. However, it must be made very clear that you, as a parent or guardian, are fully responsible for any and all consequences the child may face during or as a result of the ATV tour.

Do I need a driver’s license for the ATV tour?

Yes, if you want to drive a quad bike yourself, you must be able to show a driver’s license when you check in.

What clothes and shoes should I wear?

Wear comfortable but slightly worn clothing—clothes that can get dirty and might not come out completely clean in the washing machine. This is especially true for the West Tour, when you’re riding across the Hato Plains. The brown/red soil that gets on you in the form of dust and mud is very difficult to wash out of your clothes.
Also keep in mind that you’ll be sitting in direct sunlight the whole time on the quad, so a UV-protective shirt, for example, is no luxury.

Please wear closed-toe shoes. Flip-flops, sandals, Crocs, or women’s high-heeled shoes are not permitted for safety reasons when riding the ATV.

You’ll be provided with a helmet and goggles. You’ll also receive a balaclava to protect your head and face from dust.

Can I take photos and videos during the ATV tour?

While riding, it is strictly prohibited for both the driver and the passenger in the back to take photos or videos with a phone or camera. This is for your own safety, as well as because there is a high risk that the phone or camera will slip out of your hands, fall to the ground and break, or be run over by the ATV behind you. If you do happen to be holding your phone or camera while riding, you do so entirely at your own risk (for yourself, the passenger, and the device).
The tour guide will stop the tour a few times so you can take some nice photos or videos.

Will the ATV tour still take place in bad weather?

Yes, the ATV tour will go ahead even in bad weather (cloudy, rain, strong winds). If the weather becomes extremely dangerous (thunderstorms, severe storms), the tour operator will contact you to discuss an alternative.
If you decide not to participate due to inclement weather, you will not receive a refund and will still be required to pay the full amount.
