Location & Transportation

This beautiful Blue Room boat trip departs from the beach at estate San Juan, just before the village of Soto in the west of Curaçao a good half-hour drive from downtown Willemstad. Collect at the barrier and then you can park on site (free). No Hotel Pickup Service is offered.

What to expect.

This scenic boat trip to Blue Room is a unique trip. Most other boat trips to Blue Room are day trips that take you at least 6 hours. This 3.5 hour trip is a great way to start the day. After arriving at San Juan you will be warmly welcomed by guide Arie-Jan. Soon you will board Barku Bèrdè (Green Boat) for a beautiful morning sailing along the coast. From San Juan you will sail in the direction of Westpoint and along the way you will encounter all kinds of beautiful beaches with the pure, rugged nature of Curaçao in between. After about an hour you will arrive at Blue Room.

What is Blue Room?

Blue Room/Blue Room is a cave on the west side of Curaçao. The cave is only accessible by sea, swimming through a low passage. This will require you to swim with your head underwater for a few seconds, but once inside the cave you can simply breathe again above water. Inside the cave you are in a room where a blue glow shines; a beautiful natural effect of the sunlight illuminating the cave through the seawater. This effect makes Blue Room/Blue Room unique to Curaçao and thus a true tourist attraction not to be missed. At the back of the cave (about 50 meters from the entrance)

After you have been at leisure in Blue Room, the boat trip will sail back towards San Juan. Along the way you will make a swimming & snorkeling stop at the beautiful and pristine Shon Mosa. Around 12:30 you will be back at San Juan and this beautiful boat trip to Blue Room is over.
N.B. : It is recommended to use a snorkel set when visiting Blue Room. If you have your own, bring it with you. If you do not have a snorkel set, please let us know in advance so guide Arie-Jan can arrange it for you.

Other info

Access to the Blue Room cave is not 100% guaranteed. It depends on the current. Occasionally the current is too strong or the waves too high making it too dangerous to enter this cave (on the open sea). Also, depending on time of year and current, there may be many jellyfish at Blue Room making swimming in Blue Room strongly discouraged. If access to Blue Room is not possible, an alternative location will be visited. Often guide Arie-Jan will know this in advance and an alternative will be discussed, but it can happen that Blue Room is not accessible at that moment.
