Isla Capitano: your own island for a while

Want to get off the boat for a bit? Tie up at Isla Capitano, El Capitano’s floating private island, with sunbeds, a picnic table and shade. Only El Capitano guests are allowed here. Pure bliss!

Included

  • 3 hours of boating, you drive yourself
  • Boating instructions and navigation map
  • Anchor, full tank of fuel and safety equipment
  • Folding sunshade roof, swim ladder and sun deck (with up to 3 people)
  • Cooler and Bluetooth speaker

What to bring

  • ID (passport or driver’s license) for the driver
  • Sunscreen (SPF 50), sunglasses and a hat or cap
  • Swimwear (wear it under your clothes) and a beach towel
  • Food, drinks and ice for the cooler; above all, plenty of water
  • Your own snorkel gear, if you like

Extras such as an underwater scooter, snorkel sets or a fishing rod can be rented from El Capitano. Ask about them when you book.

Good to know

  • 21 or older to drive the boat. If in doubt, you’ll be asked for ID at check-in.
  • Maximum 6 people per boat, including children and babies. This is set by regulations and insurance, so there are no exceptions.
  • Spanish Water only. Going out to open sea is not allowed; the risk of capsizing in the waves is too high.
  • Children: emergency life vests for all ages are on board, but they’re not swim vests. If your child can’t swim yet, bring your own swim vest.
  • Someone must always stay on board, even at anchor. Pets are not allowed.
  • At check-in you sign a waiver and pay the US$350 security deposit.
  • Bad weather? In case of strong winds, heavy rain or thunderstorms, your trip will be rescheduled if possible.
  • Free changes or cancellation up to 48 hours before your booked date; after that, charges may apply.

Mark’s tips

  • Bring ice for the cooler. A bag of ice from the supermarket keeps your drinks cold the whole trip.
  • Wear your swimsuit from your hotel. Then you can jump straight in at your first swim stop.
  • More than 6 people? Rent two or more boats at the same time and cruise together. Great for a family trip or a group of friends.
  • Use plenty of sunscreen. You feel the sun less on the water, but it still burns. Even under the sunshade.
