Then <strong>Playa Kalki<\/strong> rewards you with a small bay of turquoise water, wooden rafts floating in the sea and one of the best snorkeling spots on the island. The beach lies at the far northwest tip of Cura\u00e7ao, near Westpunt. <strong>Kalki is popular, though, also with cruise passengers. Playa Kalki is at the very <strong>northwest tip<\/strong>, though. From the Queen Juliana Bridge in Willemstad it takes <strong>45 minutes to an hour<\/strong>.<\/p>\n      <p>It makes little difference whether you take the northern or the southern route; both take about the same time. Along the <strong>north side<\/strong> you pass Christoffel National Park and Shete Boka National Park. On the <strong>southern route<\/strong> you pass the turnoffs to the beautiful beaches of the south coast. At the bottom of the stairs you first reach the <strong>restaurant with a wooden deck<\/strong> on the sand: rugs on the floor, lounge sofas full of cushions and a view over the whole bay. The food isn\u2019t surprising, but it\u2019s well prepared.<\/p>\n      <p>The restaurant sits in the middle of the beach, so you can settle in on either side. Rent a sun lounger, find shade under the trees or one of the large palapas, or treat yourself to a <strong>cabana<\/strong>. There are quite a few loungers these days, and when a cruise ship is in port, groups of cruise passengers come to Kalki too. They leave again around 2:30 pm, and then it gets noticeably quieter.<\/p>\n      <p>Playa Kalki regularly appears on lists of the most beautiful beaches in the Caribbean, and a few years ago it even featured in an episode of <em>The Bachelor<\/em> (US). It\u2019s a popular dive site nicknamed <strong>Alice in Wonderland<\/strong>: you\u2019ll see plenty of coral and often <strong>seahorses and turtles<\/strong>.<\/p>\n      <p>You don\u2019t need to dive to enjoy it; with a snorkel you\u2019ll see plenty right from the beach. No gear of your own? You can rent everything at the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.gowestdiving.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">dive school<\/a>, just past the first set of stairs.
