It replaced the Netherlands Antillean guilder and is also used on Sint Maarten. The guilder is pegged to the US dollar at a fixed rate of Cg 1.79 = US$ 1, so one guilder is worth about 56 US cents.

There are bills of Cg 10, 20, 50, 100 and 200, each showing sea life such as an angelfish, an eagle ray, a sea turtle, a parrotfish and a seahorse. Coins come in 1, 5, 10, 25 and 50 cents, and 1 and 5 guilders.

Quick math: guilders to dollars

To convert a price in guilders to US dollars in your head, divide by 2 and add about 10%.
